STRONGSVILLE, Ohio (WJW) – On the same day as a public memorial in Arizona, people across Northeast Ohio gathered to honor conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

Hundreds came together Sunday night at Strongsville Commons for a prayer vigil organized by the Strongsville GOP.

“It’s a beautiful tribute. It’s a good community,” Strongsville resident Tom Dzurko said.

The event included worship, reflection and prayers celebrating Kirk’s life.

“He was a man of great faith, and he was hoping we would all embrace that,” resident Pam Stephan said.

Kirk was killed on September 10 while speaking at a college in Utah.

"We’re tired of the violence. It’s sad that someone would be killed because somebody didn’t like what they said,” resident Yvonne Hullinger said.
