David Sharaz's former pal has detailed how their decade-long friendship ended over his defamatory social media posts against Linda Reynolds.

Veteran broadcaster Gregg Easton labelled Brittany Higgins' husband a "clown" and said "karma" had caught up with the "self-entitled and delusional 'would be if he could be'" in a Facebook post on Friday.

It comes after Sharaz was hit with a massive bill after his legal row with the former Western Australia senator.

Easton and Sharaz became friends at the University of Canberra in 2011.

However, the broadcaster said their amity ended with a bitter fallout a decade later when he warned Sharaz his contentious posts ahead of Bruce Lehrmann’s criminal rape trial encroached on defamatory territory.
