TOLEDO, Ohio — On the heels of a national remembrance event for conservative activist Charlie Kirk, dozens gathered in Toledo on Sunday night to honor his life and call for an end to political violence.
More than five dozen people from across northwest Ohio attended the rally, where speakers described Kirk as an influential figure whose advocacy for free speech and conservative values left a lasting mark.
“I’ve followed Charlie Kirk for a long time, and I agree with a lot of his views — not everything. Just like Trump, I don’t agree with everything,” said attendee Dennis White. “But to assassinate just because of his words is totally wrong.”
Kirk was assassinated earlier this month, sparking rallies nationwide in his memory. Locally, attendees said the Toledo gathering was both a mome
