Healey lends voice to push for federal tax credit extension

BOSTON — Eighteen governors urged congressional leaders to extend enhanced premium tax credits, which in Massachusetts would enable tens of thousands of Bay Staters to maintain subsidized health care coverage.

Without action from Congress, those tax credits will expire at the end of the year. Average health insurance premiums could rise by more than 75%, with spikes of up to 90% in rural regions, Gov. Maura Healey’s office said.
