It is the time of the year that draws me outside to look at the flower beds and gardens spaces. I have also begun looking closely at my rose bushes. I always examine them early in the spring and late summer to determine which ones have survived the winter or the summer. If I need to replace a bush, I must determine which variety and color to choose.

As I replace mulch and pull the last of the weeds, I remind myself that there are only two types of roses as far as I am concerned. There are roses that are seemingly perfectly formed, but have no fragrance. Then there are those roses that do not look like the picture of a perfect rose that people have in their minds, but give off an abundance of wonderful fragrances.
