Tutoring grants: The Oklahoma State Department of Education announced Thursday that it will distribute $3 million in grants to support high-dosage tutoring programs.
The state’s two largest school districts, Tulsa and Oklahoma City, will each receive $1 million. The remaining $1 million will be divided into 100 $10,000 grants that will be available to rural districts with an enrollment of 5,000 or fewer pupils and where at least half of the students qualify for free or reduced price school meals.
TPS’ grant will be used to provide literacy and math tutoring for students in grades 1-8.
OSDE spokeswoman Madison Cercy did not answer questions about the grant’s funding source.
