YOUNGSTOWN — Cardinal Mooney got a big 27-14 victory over Chardon when they hosted the Hilltoppers at Stambaugh Stadium on Saturday.
Mooney (3-2) quarterback, junior Vince Gentile, tossed four touchdown passes in the Cardinals’ triumph.
“The guys played hard,” Cardinal Mooney coach Frank Colaprete said. “Vince (Gentile) did a great job at quarterback. He was mentally sharp and physically sharp. He was spot-on today with his reads, and his calls, and his accuracy. Now, it’s time to start focusing on our next game.”
The Hilltoppers got out to an early 7-0 lead. But, Gentile hooked up with senior tight end John Brenner, who raced 64 yards down the center of the field for a touchdown to tie the score 7-7 heading to the second quarter.
