New Jersey will finally get its recognition for its critical role in the earliest days of American history as filmmaker Ken Burns and his crew roll out his much-anticipated documentary, “The American Revolution” scheduled for a Nov. 16 broadcast on PBS.
Burns was in Newark last week, where 1,000 schoolchildren packed into the New Jersey Performing Arts Center were treated to an early screening of the documentary and a high-level gab session with Burns and others and moderated by Brian Williams, the television anchor from Middletown.
The event, and others throughout the day, also served as a cross-promotion with the state’s efforts to celebrate next year’s 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding.
