SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - Today marks the official first day of fall with the autumnal equinox occurring at 2:19 PM. On this day, we experience equal hours of daylight and darkness which is a sign that the days will now start getting shorter. In fact, we’ll lose about 15 minutes of daylight between now and the end of September.

And right on cue, the weather is feeling seasonal. In the Savannah area, temperatures will top out in the mid-= 80s, which is right on average for this time of year. Inland areas may reach the upper 80s, but a light breeze should offer some relief. Cloud cover will increase through the morning, which will help temperatures a bit.
