Manchester Airport has announced that IndiGo is expanding its route to Mumbai following a strong demand.
The airline launched the route - the only direct connection from the North to India’s financial capital - in July this year, operating three times a week.
From today, September 22, frequency will increase to four times a week due to its popularity. Thousands of people have already used the service, which has had a huge economic impact for the Greater Manchester region and the wider area.
Even before the increase, a study from independent experts Metro-Dynamics backed the route to deliver an economic boost worth hundreds of millions to the North over the next three years through exports, employment, visitors to the region and more.
