KAPAA — The Kapaa High School girls volleyball team locked up the Kauai Interscholastic Federation first round on Friday by defeating the Waimea High School squad in three sets at the Bernice Hundley Gym.
Over at the Wilcox Gymnasium located on the Island School campus, the KIF first round shaped up as Island School, winning the Junior Varsity match, 19-25, 25-5, and 25-5 over Kauai High School. settled the battle for second place by downing the Red Raiders, 25-17, 25-21, and 25-23 in three straight sets.
Back at the Bernice Hundley, Kapaa won both sides of their matches against Waimea as the JV wahine won the first two sets — 25-17 and 25-21 — before dropping the rule-shortened third set to the JV Menehune, 9-15.
