LIHUE — A spokesperson for Long’s Drugs CVS said the traffic was fairly strong when the team opened up at 8 a.m. on Saturday to offer drive-through flu shots and other available vaccines at the Kukui Grove parking lot that normally gets used by the Pau Hana Market.

An HMSA representative said they were there even earlier to set up the tents and prepare the giveaway bags.

The Long’s spokesperson said this drive through-campaign on Kauai is only the second one they’ve done for this year after doing a similar campaign in Hilo on the Big Island. Following Kauai, the team will do a drive-through on Oahu, and another one on Maui.

During the drive-through, which accepted drive ups as well as walk ups, persons with insurance — either HMSA, Medicare Prime, UHA, HMAA or Tricare — could get a free
