Elon Musk, the chief executive of Tesla, captivated investors in July with an update on the company's robotaxi ambitions.

Following a limited trial in Austin, Texas, Tesla intends to swiftly roll out its driverless cabs to new markets, including the San Francisco Bay Area, where it was reportedly "getting the regulatory permission to launch."

Mr Musk had previously indicated on X that deployment in the region was anticipated "probably in a month or two."
