UNION COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) -- An online threat made towards a high school over the weekend has initiated an investigation with the Union County Sheriff's Office.

Union County Schools responded to a threat posted on social media Saturday involving Union County High School. The school district took immediate action upon discovering the threat, prompting law enforcement to initiate an active investigation.

"Through the cooperation of the student’s family, the Union County Sheriff’s Office, and district leadership, we are addressing the situation swiftly and thoroughly," stated Union County Schools.
