MINNEAPOLIS — Growing up rooting for the Minnesota Vikings, Sunday afternoon was going to be special for quarterback Carson Wentz .

From the pregame warmups to the ovation before trotting out onto the field for his first drive, there was a little something extra in the air.

After handing off the ball to running back Jordan Mason on the game's first offensive snap, Wentz found receiver Justin Jefferson on two straight completions, the second being a 16-yard strike for a first down. He later found tight end Josh Oliver for a 12-yard touchdown pass to give the Vikings their first first-quarter touchdown of the season.
