GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Gas prices in Michigan are back up on average after several weeks of cooling off, according to an AAA study. Michiganders are now paying an average of $3.17 per gallon of regular unleaded gas.

While this is a 12-cent spike from last week, it is still 9 cents less than this time last month and 21 cents less than this time last year.

Drivers should expect to pay about $47 for a full 15-gallon tank of gas.

The price spike comes amid an increase in demand and a decrease in both gasoline production and domestic gasoline supply, according to AAA.

"Drivers across Michigan are seeing higher gas prices this week," said spokesperson Adrienne Woodland. "If gas demand rises further, pump prices will likely follow suit."
