BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont state police are investigating after a Burlington police standoff with a person in crisis that lasted nine hours.
State police are usually called in after an officer-involved shooting.
Riverside Avenue near the Intervale Avenue intersection in Burlington’s Old North End was closed off all day Sunday.
Police were called to the scene around noon on Sunday.
A WCAX News crew at the scene saw police allowing residents back into the building late Sunday night.
We do not know the current condition of the person police said was in crisis; however, Burlington Police Chief Shawn Burke said there was no threat to the public.
We are waiting for an update from the police.
