A source told the that a child, believed to be a six-year-old girl, is in hospital after being found with severe injuries on the evening of Sept. 19.

Emergency crews were called around 6:00 p.m. and discovered the child with serious trauma, according to the source.

The child, believed to be a girl, was living in what the source described as a foster home. Another source told the that a woman, believed to be the foster parent, was arrested by police.

When contacted, Constable Stephen Spencer, Public Information Officer with the Winnipeg Police Service, said he could not comment while the case remains under investigation. He added that police will release details at the appropriate time.
