A man died and another was wounded Sunday in Detroit's New Center district after a gunfight erupted in a child custody dispute, police said.

Police were called at about 4:15 p.m. to a home in the 600 block of Delaware Street near Woodward Avenue and Grand Boulevard for a report of a shooting, according to authorities.

Detroit Police Cmdr. Matthew Fulgenzi of the Third Precinct said officers arrived and found a man with a gunshot wound. Medics were summoned and took the man to a hospital, where he died from his injuries, he said.

Meanwhile, a second man with a gunshot wound was privately conveyed to a hospital, the commander said.
