A Covington County School’s homecoming dance was placed on lockdown Saturday night after a student received a Snapchat suggesting someone was going to “shoot up the dance.”
Red Level High School students were celebrating homecoming last week with a series of events, including a parade and homecoming dance.
On Saturday around 8:45 P.M, a few students and faculty were enjoying the final minutes of the dance when the student received the message. The dance was scheduled to end around 9 p.m.
According to Red Level School’s Principal Tony Ingram, administration made the decision to immediately end the dance and place the remaining students and staff on lockdown out of an abundance of caution.
