MONROE, N.C. — A 29-year-old man wanted on multiple charges was arrested Saturday after a Monroe K-9 ended his attempt to flee from officers in seconds, detectives say.
Vitalii Gutorka was taken into custody around 3:55 p.m. after K-9 Bolo caught him in a field near Wolf Pond Road and Hillside Drive, according to the Monroe Police Department.
Officers had gone to a home on Sunnybrook Drive to arrest Gutorka when they discovered a stolen vehicle from Stanly County that he had used to get there. Police believe Gutorka left shortly before they arrived.
Officers tracked Gutorka to the Wolf Pond Road area, where he was spotted in a nearby field and attempted to run. K-9 Bolo was released and quickly apprehended Gutorka, ending the chase within seconds.
