MONROE, N.C. — K9 Bolo is credited with capturing a suspect accused of running from Monroe Police officers over the weekend.

Police say they were attempting to arrest 29-year-old Vitalii Gutorka on Saturday, September 20, when they went to a home on Sunnybrook Drive.

While at the home, officers allegedly found a stolen vehicle from Stanly County that Gutorka had used to get to the location, according to a news release.

Officers believe Gutorka slipped away shortly before they arrived at the scene, according to investigators.

Officers continued their search and were able to track Gutorka to the area of Wolfpond Road near Hillside Drive, according to a news release. Around 3:55 p.m., police say he was spotted in a nearby field and is accused of running from officers.
