WRAL is excited to announce the premiere of Helene: What We Lost, What We Found , a powerful new investigative documentary examining the devastation and resilience that followed Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina.

Helene was the most damaging storm in state history causing $60 billion in damage, destroying more than 185,000 homes, and claiming the lives of 108 people. Produced by WRAL’s award-winning documentary team, Cristin Severance and Dwayne Myers, the film takes viewers inside the communities hit hardest by Helene’s record flooding and mudslides. Helene documents what was lost in towns like Fairview, Swannanoa, Marshall, and Chimney Rock and what survivors and neighbors discovered in themselves as they began to rebuild.
