The heartbroken family of a 'devoted' dad have paid tribute to their loved one after he tragically died in hospital following a Birmingham house fire.

Daniel Gardner was seriously injured in the fire which broke out at a property on Saxons Way in Highters Heath shortly before 1.10am on Friday, September 19.

The 37-year-old dad was rushed to hospital where he sadly died a short time later.

West Midlands Police last week launched a murder investigation into the incident.

An 18-year-old man was last night arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody.

It comes after detectives arrested Stephen Dale who was later charged with murder.
