ROCHESTER, NY - This summer featured some severe weather events, lengthy dry periods, and warmth. Starting with those temperatures, we were able to hit nine 90 degree days during official summer (June, July, & August), but made it to 11 if you include the whole year. That is nearly average for Rochester.
When put into a historical perspective, Rochester averaged 70.8 degrees during June, July, and August. That's about a degree above average and slips 2025 into the top 30 for warm summers. Climate change has increased the growing season as well as increased the average temperature over the last several decades.
Rochester had two heatwaves this year, defined by three 90 degree days. Those stretches were August 10, 11, 12, and June 22, 23, 24.
