BROKEN BOW, Neb. (WOWT) - Nebraskans were preparing to head off for the Great War on this day in 1917.

A picture from the Nebraska State Historical Society shows a very long line of men in Broken Bow, Nebraska, just before they were shipped out to Europe.

The “Great War,” eventually known as World War I, would end just over a year after the photograph was taken.
