ST PAUL, Minn. — If you're still clinging desperately to thoughts of summer, today is the day to let go.

Fall officially arrives in Minnesota at 1:19 p.m. Monday with the autumnal equinox, but in truth, the northern part of the state has been changing color for a week or two.

The Minnesota DNR's Fall Color Map shows that pockets of central Minnesota and the majority of the state's northern half are between 25% and 50% of peak color. Most of southern Minnesota is hovering between 10% and 25% of peak colors, although a swatch just south of the Twin Cities metro hasn't changed at all.

A large section of the north shore is also currently at 10% to 25%.
