The Philadelphia Phillies dropped their series against the playoff hopeful Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday and have just two series left to protect their first-round bye for the postseason.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are looming with a chance to overtake the Phillies in the standings, but the Phillies are in pole position for the bye thanks to some savvy outfield decisions from manager Rob Thomson. The skipper has effectively mixed outfielders Max Kepler, Harrison Bader and Brandon Marsh in recent weeks, though it has come with a marked loss of playing time for Nick Castellanos.

And as it becomes clear that Castellanos has lost his grip on an everyday outfielder role, an offseason move is now looming.
