U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Federal Chair Commission chair Brendan Carr’s comments on late-night host Jimmy Kimmel were “totally inappropriate.”

Paul criticized Carr on NBC’s “Meet the Press” for threatening to take away ABC’s broadcasting license if the network did not pull Kimmel from the air following comments he made about the killing of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. Kimmel faced backlash over his comments about Kirk last week, leading some ABC-affiliates to vow to not air “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”.

He noted that while Carr should not have commented on Kimmel, the late-night host does not have a “right” to employment.
