(FOX 5/KUSI) — A 31-year-old woman who was walking died after being struck by a vehicle near the Westfield UTC mall in University City on Sunday night.

According to San Diego Police, the crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. near La Jolla Village Drive and Genesee Avenue.

The agency said the woman stepped off the center median and into the eastbound inside lane of La Jolla Village Drive when she was struck by a sedan in that same lane.

The woman was declared dead at a hospital, and police did not provide details of any injuries to other people.

Police said DUI was not a factor in the crash, and that officers from its traffic division were investigating the crash.
