BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The body of a diver who went missing over the weekend in the Cooper River has been recovered. Details about the recovery remain limited.

Multiple agencies spent much of the weekend searching the Cooper River for a diver who went missing near the Bushy Park Boat Landing.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call around noon Saturday about a commercial diver in distress, adding that the diver went underwater and did not resurface.

Duty Officer Ryan Dickinson with the United States Coast Guard said a helicopter was launched to help with the search; however, the individual was not found during the initial aerial sweep.
