LEE COUNTY, Va. (WYMT) - One person is dead after a crash in Southwest Virginia.

Virginia State Police said the incident happened at approximately 2:12 p.m. Sunday on Route 58 in Lee County.

Deborah L. Wires, 61, of Rose Hill, Va., was in a Nissan SUV heading one way at the intersection of Burning Well Road when the vehicle hit a Lincoln, which had pulled into the intersection from a stop sign.

Wires was taken to a hospital, where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

A seven-year-old minor suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Donald Grabeel, 86, was behind the wheel of the Lincoln. He suffered serious injuries as well as an adult passenger in the Lincoln.

Both were taken to area hospitals.
