CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A Chesapeake man is facing multiple charges after investigators say he shot two of his dogs.

The Chesapeake Police Department said officers were called to the 800 block of Jo Anne Circle on the afternoon of September 8 for reports of gunshots in the area. When they arrived, they learned a homeowner had shot two of his dogs, claiming the animals had been fighting and bit his wife when she tried to break up the fight.

Following an investigation, police said Shane Fuson was charged with two counts of animal cruelty by Animal Control. Police also charged Fuson with reckless handling of a firearm and discharging a firearm.
