Sylvia Rhone , an industry trailblazer who is one of a decreasing number of women to helm a major music company, is stepping down from her post as chair/CEO of Epic Records, effective at the end of the month, Variety has confirmed.
There was no immediate word on who will replace her, although a source tells Variety that label president Zeke Lewis and GM Rick Sackheim will handle the company’s day-to-day business after Rhone’s exit.
Rhone’s departure comes six years after she was promoted to chair/CEO in 2019. She had previously served as Epic’s president since 2014. Billboard first reported the news
A true industry legend, Rhone began her career as an assistant at Buddah Records and rose through the ranks over the years to become the first woman to be named chairman and CEO of
