U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst told a crowd of conservatives that she received "a lot of pressure from the White House" to run for a third term, but the choice to step aside was "the right decision for me."

Ernst, 55, a Republican who was first elected in 2014, told the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition's annual banquet on Saturday, Sept. 20, it has been "such an honor" to serve in the Senate, but she made the choice to spend more time with her family.
