LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)-- A federal court temporarily blocked the Trump Administration's efforts for states to hand over personal information of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel joined a coalition of 20 other attorneys general.
The District Court for the Northern District of California issued a restraining order preventing the Trump Administration from demanding that states turn over personal information of all residents who receive SNAP.
According to Nessel, the USDA's demand for sensitive data, including Social Security numbers and home addresses, violated privacy laws.
