MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Wisconsin emergency crews responded to more than 140,000 fall-related calls in 2024, about 10,000 more than the year before, according new data.

The Department of Health Services released the numbers during Falls Prevention Week, urging residents and caregivers to take steps to reduce risks.

“Falls remain a serious injury and health concern in Wisconsin,” State Health Officer Paula Tran said. “This report highlights the pressing need for increased access to falls prevention programming and supplies.”

Private homes were the most common location, making up nearly two-thirds of fall calls.
