Johnny “The Rocket” Sokol blasted pass his competitors just past the one-mile mark while Marci Kliesch led from start to finish at the annual Michael’s Cause 5K.

The race, held along the boardwalk promenade around Midland Beach, also served as the third leg of the SITRAC Triple Crown.

Sokol raced with his competitors until just after the mile mark, where he surged ahead and held on for the victory, winning in a time of 15 minutes, 52 seconds.

Finishing in second place was Dominic Palermo (16:01) with Joseph Squillaciotti finishing in third.

Kliesch, racing in total command, never looked back and easily won the women’s race in a time of 20 minutes, 48 seconds.

Melissa Kraker (21:29) finished second holding off Nicole Macri (21:32) who finished third.
