Russia's taxi industry has been plunged into further crisis after St Petersburg becomes latest city to ban foreign taxi drivers. ‌

Fares have risen by 22% across the nation with some popular routes increasing by as much as 70% over the course of 2025. ‌

St Petersburg has become the latest of 30 regions to ban foreign nationals from driving taxis with anti-foreign sentiment continuing to spread after the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack in March 2024. ‌
