UTICA, New York (WWNY) - An Adams man has turned down a plea deal in the beating death of an inmate at a prison in Oneida County.
David Kingsley is one of several corrections officers who were charged with murder for the fatal beating of inmate Robert Brooks at Marcy Correctional Facility last December.
On Monday, Kingsley rejected an offer to plead guilty to second-degree manslaughter.
He will now go on trial in Oneida County Court on murder and manslaughter charges. Jury selection will begin on October 6.
According to Syracuse.com , other corrections officers accepted a deal in return for lighter sentences. They pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter on Monday.
Nicholas Anzalone and Anthony Farina were promised 22 years in prison.
