GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A jury has awarded more than $200 million to the family of a little girl who fell off an amusement park ride in 2021, agreeing with the family’s claim that the park was negligent in the child’s death.
It is one of the largest wrongful death lawsuit awards for a single plaintiff in Colorado history.
Wongel Estifanos was just 6 years old when she was killed while riding the Haunted Mine Drop at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. The ride is a vertical drop: riders are strapped in, then their seats are plummeted more than 100 feet.
Wongel was never buckled in, according to the lawsuit.
