Southern University officials announced they have reopened James W. Fisher Hall on its Baton Rouge campus, hours after it was evacuated Monday morning.
Authorities determined there was no threat posed to students, the university said, before announcing the return of normal operations to the building.
"Southern University and A&M College has received an all clear for Fisher Hall. The SU Police Department, in coordination with local law enforcement agencies, has thoroughly investigated the situation and determined there is no threat," university officials said in a statement.
A spokesperson for the university said a "suspicious item" found in the parking lot of the hall caused officials to evacuate the building Monday morning, "out of an abundance of caution."
