A Macomb County middle school is the latest recipient of a free automated external defibrillator (AED) provided by Medstar ambulance company.
L’Anse Creuse Middle School East in Chesterfield Township received the AED on Thursday, Sept. 18 when the Clinton Township-based ambulance company made the donation to Zach MacIntosh, the school’s principal.
Tom Barry, Medstar’s safety and clinical quality manager, said when an AED is used in a cardiac arrest, the chance of survival doubles.
“The AED provides voice and visual prompts to walk people through the process of applying pads and delivering a lifesaving shock,” Barry said in a news release.
