CBS Sports reports that sources say Bruce Pearl will retire as head basketball coach at Auburn.

CBS Sports says Pearl will leave the profession.

Pearl came to terms with his decision and made it final on Monday morning, sources told CBS Sports.

He’s been linked to a potential U.S. Senate run in Alabama in recent months as well , but sources had been downplaying the likelihood that Pearl would go into politics this year. Current U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama), himself a former Auburn head coach (football), is stepping down to run for governor.
