STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - At Saturday night’s Eagles’ game, the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) presented a gift to Georgia Southern President Kyle Marrero.

HMGMA announced they would be donating $100,000 to establish a scholarship at Georgia Southern University.

This formally establishes the “Hyundai Motor Gorup Metaplant America Scholarship,” which is a $100,000 commitment that will be paid over the course of four years beginning in 2025.

HMGMA officials say the money will provide scholarships for students from Bulloch, Effingham, Bryan or Chatham counties pursuing a degree in the Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Computing.

Officials wrote that the gift is symbolic, “100K for 100 Meta Pros. Already more than 100 GSU alumni are employed at HMGMA.”
