PHOENIX — A member of Arizona’s best-known hockey family is taking the lead on what could be a multi-year project to bring a National Hockey League team back to the state.

Andrea Doan, wife of Arizona Coyotes legend Shane Doan and mother of NHLer Josh Doan, is chairing the advisory panel on pro hockey to Arizona, an informal group of Arizona leaders focused on bringing the NHL back to the desert.

"Arizona means a lot to me and my family, and the hockey community in this incredible state is committed to bringing the NHL back to the desert," Andrea Doan said in a statement released Monday.

"I am honored to serve as the chair of this ad hoc committee and look forward to working with my colleagues and fellow community leaders in Arizona on this important effort."
