LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A Lake Charles woman is behind bars, accused of shooting her family member.

Shermaine Bartie, 45, faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder.

Around 10:45 p.m. Sept. 18, officers with the Lake Charles Police Department responded to a shooting in the 2400 block of Anita Drive, LCPD Lt. Brenda Treadway said.

Inside the home, officers found a woman bleeding from a single gunshot wound, Treadway said. Officers were able to seal the wound, and the woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Treadway, the victim identified the person who shot her as her family member, Bartie.

Around 1:00 p.m. Sept. 19, Bartie was arrested on North Kirkman Street, Treadway said. She was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on a $3
