A runoff election deciding who will be the next representative for District 3 on the Athens City Council is scheduled for Tuesday.
District 3 consists of most of the southern portions of the city.
Facing off are James Lucas, the incumbent, who received 46% of the vote in the August municipal election, and his challenger, former Councilman Henry White, who garnered the support of 43.9% of voters. Lucas won 210 votes to White's 200. The runoff is mandated after neither met the 50% threshold required to declare a winner officially.
Residents of the district will vote at the Pincham-Lincoln Center, located at 606 Trinity Circle.
Polling will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
