LITTLE FALLS — The Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center made history on Sunday when 2,358 fans came together at Yogi Berra Stadium to set a Guinness World Record for the Largest Game of Catch Ever.

The event featured 1,179 pairs of participants tossing baseballs back and forth on the field at Montclair State University. The effort surpassed the previous record of 972 pairs, set in 2017.

Representatives from Guinness World Records were on hand to certify the achievement.

The event is part of a yearlong celebration, in what would have been Berra's 100th birthday.

Eve Schaenen, Executive Director of the Museum, opened the event by quoting Berra’s 1972 Hall of Fame speech: “Thank you for making this day necessary.”
