A shelter-in-place order has been issued in the Spring Valley area due to a hazmat incident that caused a "gas cloud to be formed," officials said.

The incident was reported at around 11 a.m. on 10600 Jamacha Boulevard. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department said a company "accidentally mixed two chemicals incorrectly and a gas cloud formed."

Although an evacuation order has not been officially issued, the sheriff's department told NBC 7 they have evacuated some businesses and residents.

The following streets have been closed according to Genasys Protect :

Sweetwater Springs Blvd

Rolex Street

The shelter-in-place order has been activated within the following boundaries:
